I just wanted to share this quick and simple way to make your protein bars more exciting to snack on.
I used Bodylab's Low Carb Minimum protein bars in Peanut Butter & Chocolate and Double Chocolate Brownie flavor. The consistency of these bars make them perfect for these particular snack bites. Their nutritional value makes them a great low carb and low calorie snack as well, especially if you're watching your calories like I am at the moment.
In this recipe I use Bodylab's organic peanut butter and some chopped strawberries as filing for the bites. But you can pretty much use whatever your heart desires and craves!
(makes 8 - 10 bites)
Preheat your oven to 200 C.
Cut the protein bars into 4 or 5 pieces (depending on how big you want your bites)
Place pieces onto a tray that's lined with parchment paper and place into oven for 1 minute.
Remove the pieces from the oven and carefully place each piece on a cutting board one by one and use strong flat object to smash each piece flat.
Tip: you may want to slightly moisten the object you are using to flatten out the pieces with a bit of water each time to avoid them sticking.
once the piece is flat, fill with approximately 1/2 teaspoon of peanut butter and a piece strawberry. Gently pinch the sides together to form a little pie-like shape around the filling.
Allow them to cool before eating. Enjoy!
Tip: you could go the whole 9 yards and sprinkle each bite with some Chocolate Zero Topping from Bodylab.
