Hair by Dunja

March 22, 2016

Before I get started, let me tell you, I have had some awful experiences with hairdressers in Denmark and abroad this passed year. I have wavy, coarse hair that, apparently, many hairdressers just don't know how to work with. The last hairdresser I went to chopped my hair into awkward layers and did a terrible job on the coloring. So for the passed 4 months I've just been growing my hair out and hoping to find a hairdresser that could help me even out the choppy layers and give me a new, vibrant coloring.

Today I visited the new hair salon Hair by Dunja located in Vesterbro, a stone's throw from Enghave Station. And let me just say it flat out... If you are looking for a skilled hairdresser and colorist in Copenhagen who is service-minded, reasonably priced and a big sweetheart.. LOOK NO FURTHER! This woman was amazing!

As a special offer to my blog readers, Dunja will give you 10% off any treatment as a first-time customer if you book an appointment and tell her you read about the offer via MYworkout Yvonne's blog!

The salon has a cozy, welcoming atmosphere and the owner, Dunja Pedersen, greeted me warmly as soon as I walked in. She showed me to a clean, tidy chair, carefully wrapped the water-proof cape around me and offered me a warm beverage. She even had soy milk for my coffee and biscuits! That was a HUGE plus in my little vegan heart! Dunja speaks both Danish and English, but I spoke in Danish with her.

Dunja put on some pleasant music and went to work on my coloring while I enjoyed my coffee and a magazine she provided for me. Once the color had set, she washed it, used a toner to seal the color and then washed my hair with Kevin Murphy products. And FYI, the chair by the washing station is a massage chair. Nice!

Dunja then proceeded to cut my hair and she did her very best to help even out the choppy layers I had.

I knew it would be difficult to fix the damage the prior hairdresser had done to my hair, but Dunja did an amazing job! And I LOVE the coloring and the subtle ombre at the ends. It's exactly what I wanted and needed.

Dunja did a full coloring to remove the old stripes I had and then she did ombre coloring at the tips plus a hair cut. She washed, dried and straightened my hair as well and that is included in the price, which was 1,400 DKK.

I think 1,400 DKK for long, thick hair like mine is a very reasonable price. I have had to pay 2,000+ in other salons because of the length and thickness of my hair.
